Tough Wet Adhesion of Hydrogel
In nature, robust interfacial adhesion plays crucial roles in maintaining integration and functionality of various physiological structures including tendon and cartilage to bones and epidermis to dermis in mammalian skins. For instance, the bonding of tendon and cartilage to bone is extremely tough (e.g., interfacial toughness ~800 Jm 2 ), yet such tough interfaces have not been achieved betwe...
متن کاملEnzymatic formation of a photoresponsive supramolecular hydrogel.
This paper reports the first example of the use of an enzymatic reaction to generate a photoresponsive hydrogelator, which represents a convenient route to expand the scope of optically controlled molecular self-assembly in water.
متن کاملControllable heterogeneity in a supramolecular hydrogel.
A dispersion of a peptide amphiphile into water forms hierarchical fibril structures, leading to a supramolecular hydrogel. We here report that there exists dynamic heterogeneity in the gel, which might be induced by the heterogeneous fibril network. The network, and therefore, the heterogeneity, can be easily regulated by changing the temperatures used to dissolve the gelator in water.
متن کاملSupramolecular hydrogel of kanamycin selectively sequesters 16S rRNA.
As the first example of hydrogelator derived from aminoglycoside antibiotics, the hydrogel of kanamycin indicates that the hydrogel of aminoglycosides preserve the specific interaction with their macromolecular targets (e.g., 16S rRNA), thus illustrating a simple approach to explore and identify possible biological targets of supramolecular nanofibers/hydrogels.
متن کاملDesign of a micellized α-cyclodextrin based supramolecular hydrogel system.
In recent years supramolecular structures built from macrocyclic compounds have attracted tremendous interest due to the unique properties derived from dynamic self-assembly. Our study proposes a two-step mechanism to form a supramolecular hydrogel system: (1) the formation of micelles, and (2) micelle association with α-cyclodextrin (α-CD) due to threading of PEGMA in the α-CD cavity, forming ...
